Cold Skin, 2017

Good creature designs. I really liked the setting. I wasn’t a huge fan of the story but by the end it won me over.

The Endless, 2017 (contains spoilers)

This review may contain spoilers. I spent most of the movie completely baffled to what was going on, but then the movie time looped back on the filmmaker’s first movie Resolution and my mind was blown. I can’t wait to watch both movies again.

Day of the Dead: Bloodline, 2018

Pretty run of the mill zombie fare. The only funny thing was how the victim’s wound with explode with blood after every zombie bite.

Veronica, 2017

Fairly creepy possession story. What really got me were the actual photos of the real life incident that played during the end credits.

Ghostland, 2018

Kind of hard to figure out what was going on exactly but after finishing it I really want to watch it again.

Halloween, 2018

Solid and it got to the point without a ton of fluff or jokey dialogue. I thought the score was excellent.

An Evening with Beverly Luff Linn, 2018

I’m happy to report that The Greasy Strangler was no one off fluke. Jim Hoskins has made another hilarious and rather charming tale of misfits finding each other in a bizarre world.

Bernie, 2011

I’m kind of embarrassed it took me this long to finally watch this movie. Jack Black turned in one his finest and subdued performances ever. I can just tell this will end up being a movie that I’ll break out every year or so to re-watch.

The Kingdom, 2007

A good cast and a plot with some interesting things to say. Peter Berg sure does know how to shoot an entertaining movie.

Apostle, 2018

I can’t really put my finger on the reasons, but this movie never really clicked for me. It had all the right ingredients for something special, just not creepy enough I suppose. I still would check it out if you are a fan of Evans’ other work,

The First Purge, 2018

I’ve grown to love this series but even I have to say there just isn’t any more story to tell here after this prequel. Even after saying that I will still check out the tv series.

The Death of Superman, 2018

It’s strange that DC is already remaking their own animated movies. I did like this quite a bit. The animation was better than the original but I still do not like Superman’s character design. Splitting the story in 2 parts gives this first part more time with the characters before...

A Dark Song, 2016

A very good slow burn. I liked how they treated the rituals in a very procedural type of way. I really seem to enjoy movies that leave you guessing the entire time if what you are seeing is going to actually lead to something major happening or not.

Hold the Dark, 2018

I’m a huge Saulnier fan and you can’t beat his visual style. I found bits of the plot confusing and it made more sense once I searched out the original book’s ending.
