Dead or Alive, 1999
Best ending in all of movies? Maybe but just don’t ask me what happened in the other 90+ minutes of this whacked out movie. I have no idea.
Blood Rage, 1987
Where has this movie been all of my life? I don’t know how I missed this back in the VHS glory days. What a fun slasher movie!
The Hills Have Eyes, 1977
A simple premise directed flawlessly by the late Wes Craven. I still think this movie is criminally underrated.
Mission: Impossible – Fallout, 2018
Lighter on plot than the last few entries but no less thrilling. The bathroom fight and prisoner heist were the standouts.
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, 1974
Still packs a wallop after all these years. Franklin still deserved everything he got.
Sisters, 2015
Fey and Poehler had great chemistry as always. The movie played out like a funny teen comedy filled with 40 year olds.
Searching, 2018
I do like the “screen life” genre and I felt this movie broke a one of its fundamental rules. Just show the full screen as is, no unnecessary zooming in to highlight something. That kind of stuff takes me right out of the movie.
Mile 22, 2018
Mildly entertaining if you can ignore the ridiculous overacting. Iko Uwais is basically a real-life superhero so back the cameras up and let the guy do his thing. Stop editing all his fight scenes so poorly that you can barely see what is happening.
The Strangers: Prey at Night, 2018
Much better than I was expecting. The first half dragged a bit but once you get to the pool scene it really takes off from there.
Viral, 2016
Cliche from start to finish. Someone who’s never seen a horror movie before probably wouldn’t even be surprised by it.
The Night Eats the World, 2018
Proof that there are still interesting stories to tell with zombies. I was invested the main actor’s methodical plan to survive long term. The creepy silent zombies were original too.
