The Go-Go’s, 2020
Warts and all history of one of the 80’s biggest bands. It is completely outrageous that they are not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Relic, 2020
Moody and downright creepy at times. There’s just not a lot here I haven’t seen done before.
Money Plane, 2020
Both horrible and amazing at the same time. What kind of action movie has the hero fly a plane for most of the movie while everything else is going on without him? That’s Money Plane!
Host, 2020 (contains spoilers)
This review may contain spoilers. I’m sure this is the first of many Zoom based movies heading our way. Surprisingly effective, I liked it a lot. There’s one use of a virtual background that was very clever. And it’s only 56 minutes!
The Furies, 2019
Interesting take on the girl in the woods slasher movie. I liked the idea of multiple girls and killers. Filming a horror movie during the day always gets you points in my book.
The Pool, 2018
This guy’s bad luck really challenged my suspension of disbelief. I will say it had one of the most shocking acts of violence I have ever scene against a dog.
The Beach House, 2019
Pretty good little body horror thriller. I really liked Jake Weber’s walk into the ocean scene.
I Spit On Your Grave, 1978
I was so happy to find my old DVD copy with commentary by Joe Bob Briggs. He has a knack of making you appreciate the most vile movies.
Orgazmo, 1997
Hamster style! Still holds up incredibly well even after all these years. I really wish Parker and Stone would do more live action stuff. I miss those guys.
Palm Springs, 2020
A light and fun take on Groundhog Day. The cast was good, just needed more J.K. Simmons.
The Vast of Night, 2019
I was a little caught off guard by how this movie started but once I got into the groove I fell for it hard. There are some amazingly long single takes in this movie that must have taken forever to get right. If you are a fan of challenging movies...
Richard Jewell, 2019
Jewell’s only crime was looking like a guy who would have committed the bombing. I feel really bad for this guy.
Terminator 2: Judgment Day, 1991
T2 sits on my very short list of perfect movies. Everything about this movie is so well crafted. This still blows away any modern day action movie.
The Assistant, 2019
I thought it was very compelling but I can understand why some people might be turned off by the relentlessly slow pace. One of my favorite films of the year so far.
