Batman: Hush, 2019

This adaptation changed so much of the source material I don’t think the die hard fans of this storyline will enjoy this very much.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters, 2019

Lots more monster action than the first movie but still suffers from a kinda boring human story. Maybe Adam Wingard will find the perfect mix next summer with Godzilla vs Kong. I hope so, these movies should be tons of fun.

Darlin’, 2019

Most of the jokes fell flat for me but I did think this movie was a good continuation of The Woman’s journey.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, 2019

Only Tarantino could pull off a breezy 3 hour movie. While most directors lose it over time, Tarantino show no signs of slowing down. He’s the best in my book.

Captive State, 2019

Another movie I really dug that will never get a proper sequel. It’s really hard out there for smaller original movies to succeed. I barely remember hearing about it before it came out.

Hellboy, 2019

I had the distinct feeling that nobody involved with this movie wanted to make this movie. They just tried to get through it as fast as possible. I’m very disappointed that this will be the last Hellboy we get for a very long time.

Spider-Man: Far from Home, 2019

The second excellent Spider-Man movie in 7 months. This one had lots of laughs and heart. It was also a nice epilogue to the entire Infinity War Saga. I would love a deeper dive into “The Blip” and what that did to the world. And how can you not love...

Shazam!, 2019

The movie struck the right tone considering this is one of the corniest looking superheroes out there. I had a real fun time watching this.

The House of the Devil, 2009

This movie gets better every time I watch it. Jocelin Donahue should be a huge star by now. And someone needs to finance a big budget Ti West movie already.

Pet Sematary, 2019

I’m not a fan of the original or this remake. I just don’t think there’s enough story there to fill a 90+ minute movie. Maybe it would work better as part of an anthology?

Knife+Heart, 2018

We really are living in a new golden age of giallo films. Horror might be mostly dead here in the states but thank goodness for the European filmmakers keeping the art alive.

Street Trash, 1987

There’s so much going on but yet there’s nothing going on for long stretches. When the movie finally gets goopy it’s a blast.

I Am Mother, 2019

I was really onboard until the last 15 minutes or so. It really lost me when it got to the “why” everything was happening. Very cool practical robot suit tho.
