Moneyball, 2011

It started out strong but ended weak. I love baseball and the theory of sabermetrics is interesting, but the movie wasn’t.

BASEketball, 1998

I haven’t watched this in about 10 years, and wow, what a trainwreck. Trey Parker & Matt Stone are funny, but the movie is pretty awful.

Drive, 2011

I was totally blown away by every aspect of this movie. I am so mad I didn’t see it in a theater. Without a doubt my favorite movie of 2011.

Final Destination 5, 2011

Better than the turd that was Part 4. The end was actually kind of clever. How can you not love this ridiculous death scene?

Bellflower, 2011

A gritty and violent film with a visual style unlike anything I’ve seen before. I’m very interested in what the filmmakers will do next.

Batman: Year One, 2011

Faithful and entertaining adaptation of Frank Miller‘s seminal story. I hope this is successful enough to warrant more drama heavy DCAU adaptations.

Martha Marcy May Marlene, 2011

Elizabeth Olsen and John Hawkes are fantastic in this drama about a young woman trying to adjust to life after fleeing a dangerous cult.

Cold Sweat, 2010

There didn’t seem to be much of a point to this movie. Just some old Argentinean terrorists, weird feral women, and lots of nitro-glycerine.

Chillerama, 2011

An anthology movie that hits more than it misses. The standout is The Diary of Anne Frankenstein. Fast forward through I Was A Teenage Werebear.

Green Lantern, 2011

Actually not that bad. I would like to see a sequel that focused more on the cosmic aspects of the Corps and far less time wasted on Earth.

The Thing, 2011

Misses the mark trying to recapture the paranoia & thrills of Carpenter’s classic. I didn’t care about anybody. The end credits did make me smile.

Attack the Block, 2011

Aliens decide to invade one of the toughest neighborhoods in England. Bad idea. Lots of fun to watch and the creature design was very cool.

Grave Encounters, 2011

By the time these lame hipster ghost hunters found some cool stuff I was so bored I could care less. Go watch SESSION 9 instead. You’ll thank me.

The Woman, 2011

Very odd yet compelling sequel to The Offspring. Actress Pollyanna McIntosh is so good. Director Lucky McKee did it again. I loved this movie.

Offspring, 2009

Just your standard home invasion by a feral family kind of movie. I just wanted to watch it to get some background for Lucky McKee‘s new movie.
