The Love Witch, 2016
A fine example of style over substance. The look of the movie was a great riff on classic Hammer Films and the sex comedies of the 1960s, but the meandering plot could have been easily trimmed by 30-40 minutes.

Way too long and it’s only 80 minutes. Most of the movie is spent with the characters just sitting around saying nothing. So boring and I have no idea what was going on.
Great music. I was expecting the typical “dad goes insane” plot and thankfully I was wrong. It was a really good movie.
A dark and disturbing movie. The lead actress was very good. I liked it a lot.
This movie has one of the most misleading trailers I’ve ever scene. This was supposed to be some sort of crazy splatter flick but it was actually a boring mess.
I’m down for any movie with Barbara Crampton in it but I think my expectations for this movie were too high. There were some good parts but too many slow parts holding it back.
A really good little horror movie. I felt it struck the perfect balance of keeping things mysterious but giving out enough information to keep you interested.
Equal parts disturbing and humorous. I liked the twist of a pregnant mother to be as the serial killer.
Very disappointing overall. I was really looking forward to this sequel to the original V/H/S short “Amateur Night”. Shoddy production quality and way too much added mythology ruined this movie for me.
This review may contain spoilers. I was very surprised how close it tied into the plot of Prometheus. The characters acted like real people instead of like the last movie. Fassbender was very good as David/Walter. I can’t wait to see how they filmed that flute scene. I liked that they took a chance on such a dark ending. Overall I really liked this chapter of the series.
Everything was bigger and better, exactly how a sequel should be. The movie was very funny and I was surprised how sad I felt by the end.
A finely crafted thriller that demands a repeat viewing. I love a good movie that makes you re-evaluate everything you think you know about what is going on.
I’ve been pretty lukewarm on Ben Wheatley’s movies over the last few years but I’ve stuck with him because I know the guy is talented. I’m happy I did because Free Fire is a total success. I had a blast watching these wanna-be criminals turn on each other over a gun deal gone bad.
A brilliant idea wasted on uninteresting characters. This might have worked better as an episode of Black Mirror.
