Reservation Road

Perfectly crafted and acted drama about two families coming to terms with the events that that destroyed all of their worlds.

The Eye

Remake of the not so great Hong Kong version. Disappointing debut from the directors of one of my favorite films of the year, Them.

Hot Rod

Andy Samberg is funny, this movie is not. Highly talented supporting cast was totally wasted on this stinking excuse of a comedy.

Karla

Based on real life Canadian serial killers. Tried too hard to make Karla a sympathetic victim and blame her husband for everything. Lame.

The Bank Job

Based on the actual 1971 multimillion dollar heist. I always like a good ripped-from-the-headlines story. And Jason Statham always rules.

All The Boys Love Mandy Lane

A very interesting take on the sometimes tired slasher genre. Most of it takes place during the day which I always find refreshing.

The Love Guru

Much funnier than all those bad reviews would have you think. Mike Myers is definitely the master of the double entendre.

[●REC]

Intense horror film from Spain. News crew gets more than they bargained for following local fire dept. US remake already coming this fall.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army

A lot more humor than the first. Incredible, mostly non-cgi creatures. Too bad it may be years before we see more adventures of the BPRD.

Batman: Gotham Knight

6 connected, Anime-style short films set between Batman Begins & Dark Knight. All the stories were good, the best was Working Through Pain.

21

Fun but predictable movie. The math geek in me wishes they would have gotten down and dirty into how counting cards really works.

New French Extremism

What’s a true horror film fan to do? J-Horror and Torture Porn have (thankfully) run their course as most fads do.  It didn’t take long for a new film movement to fill the void they left behind.   France, the country most known for comedies and the auteur theory, has...

Vantage Point

RASHO-yawn. On paper this should have been a lot better. High-caliber cast can’t do anything to save this dud. Completely ridiculous ending.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Another win for Team Apatow. Dracula puppet musical has to be seen to be believed. Really funny stuff. Kristen Bell was great as usual.
