In the Shadow of the Moon, 2019
I really like Jim Mickle’s attention to detail and directing style. I found the techno babble part of the story a little confusing and wish it was fleshed out a bit more.
The Fanatic, 2019
Unintentionally hilarious. Travolta’s performance is completely wacko. The bafflingly misguided attempt to make the stalker sympathetic never really works.
Blinded by the Light, 2019
A love letter to the power of Springsteen. The movie wasn’t anything you haven’t seen before but I didn’t mind that at all.
The Amazing Johnathan Documentary, 2019
I can’t decide if this whole thing was legit or one big prank. It sure was interesting to watch being a longtime Amazing Jonathan fan.
Dark Phoenix, 2019
The only positive thing I can say is I really liked the Grant Morrison New X-Men inspired costumes.
Memory: The Origins of Alien, 2019
ALIEN is a move that has been discussed and analyzed so many times over the years that you have to bring something new to the table if you are going to go to that well again. I don’t think this movie was up to that challenge.
The Nice Guys, 2016
I’m ashamed I let this slip through the cracks for so long. What a blast from beginning to end. Gosling’s comedic timing is amazing and Crowe is no slouch either. Please make a sequel. All I can think about it is watching it again right away.
Men in Black: International, 2019
Distractingly cheap and unfunny. How can you make a movie about aliens with barley any aliens in it? I swear I didn’t see one single background alien during the big celebration scene at the end. What happened to all the great practical effects from the other movies?
John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, 2019
These just keep getting better and better. The fight with the dogs and horse chase were great, but my favorite set piece had to be the knife fight.
Batman: Hush, 2019
This adaptation changed so much of the source material I don’t think the die hard fans of this storyline will enjoy this very much.
Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II, 1987
Very low body count and quite boring at times even by 1980s straight to VHS standards.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters, 2019
Lots more monster action than the first movie but still suffers from a kinda boring human story. Maybe Adam Wingard will find the perfect mix next summer with Godzilla vs Kong. I hope so, these movies should be tons of fun.
Darlin’, 2019
Most of the jokes fell flat for me but I did think this movie was a good continuation of The Woman’s journey.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, 2019
Only Tarantino could pull off a breezy 3 hour movie. While most directors lose it over time, Tarantino show no signs of slowing down. He’s the best in my book.
