Godzilla vs. Kong, 2021 – ★★★

Three movies in and they finally hit the right balance of monster action vs human “story”. I really loved the color palette and I loved that Wingard snuck some synthwave in there too.

Violation, 2020 – ★★★

Brutal revenge film that I think was hurt by the non-linear storytelling gimmick. It kept taking me out of the story.

Tread, 2019 – ★★★

Very interesting true story that has been mostly forgotten because it happened 1 day before Ronald Reagan died. I felt they spent way too much time on the backstory of this guy and by the time the rampage started there wasn’t time left to really get into it.

Monster Party, 2018 – ★★

Every character was unlikable and that’s a big problem when I am supposed to be rooting for people to survive. On the other hand, there was a 3 minute bit that was so insane I’d almost recommend this movie.

The Room, 2019 – ★★

Would probably have made a better episode of The Twilight Zone rather than a 90 minute movie.

Home Movie, 2008 – ★

We all know how all found footage movies end so you really need to bring it if you want to stand out. This ending was so lame I was so happy when it was fianlly over.

Wrong Turn, 2021 – ★★★

After 7 Wrong Turn movies it was time for a fresh start. This one takes the title and runs in a whole new direction. Very good overall.
