Choke

Choke

Faithful adaptation of the book, but I wish it was a bit longer so you could learn more about the characters. Seemed a bit rushed at the end.

Death Note

Death Note

I’m generally not a fan of manga books or films, but this was really cool. I am also very happy to see a sequel will be out later this year.

Pulse 2: Afterlife

Pulse 2: Afterlife

A sequel to the movie that nobody I know actually likes except me. I haven’t seen such bad cgi since A Sound Of Thunder.

L.A. Confidential

L.A. Confidential

Completely holds up as one of the great films of the 1990s. There isn’t a weak link in the entire cast. It’s like a masterclass in acting.

The Cell

The Cell

Much better than I remember it being. One of the better post-Seven serial killer films. I forgot Jennifer Lopez used to be a good actress.

Some Kind Of Monster

Some Kind Of Monster

Terrific film about 4 guys trying to save their friendship. Even if you don’t know or like Metallica’s music, this is a fascinating film.

Get Thrashed

Get Thrashed

A fun look at the music that stills holds a special place in my heart. It was especially cool to see footage from my first concert.

Death Race

Death Race

A juvenile, brainless, loud, predictable, ridiculously violent, unoriginal film from Paul W.S. Anderson. I kind of loved it.

The Foot Fist Way

The Foot Fist Way

An inept Taekwondo instructor’s life unravels in this low budget comedy. I really had high hopes for this one, but it was just kind of ok.

The Fall

The Fall

A stunningly beautiful and suprisingly touching film from acclaimed director Tarsem. A wonderful tribute to the art of storytelling.

Snow Angels

Snow Angels

A powerful, beautiful, and riveting drama from one of the best directors working today, David Gordon Green. Seek this one out.

Stuck

Stuck

Tight little thriller based on the horrific real-life event. I’m glad to see that Stuart Gordon is still putting out some interesting films.

Chicago 10

Chicago 10

Fascinating doc about the historic 1968 DNC and ridiculous trial. Mixes actual news footage and animated courtroom re-enactments. A must see.

10,000 B.C.

10,000 B.C.

Completely boring and insulting film from Roland Emmerich, who used to make fun movies like Stargate and ID4. This is total junk.
