Top 10 Movies Of 2015

  1. Star Wars: The Force Awakens
For me it struck the perfect balance of fan service with the classic characters while at the same time adding new and interesting characters I want to know more about. I can’t wait to watch it over and over again.
  2. Mad Max: Fury Road
This movie should be a wake up call to all of Hollywood about the right way to shoot chaotic action scenes. There wasn’t a single second that you didn’t know what was going on and where everyone was. You must go see this on the biggest screen you can before it is gone.
  3. It Follows
One of the few movies that actually lived up to all the hype I’ve been reading for the last few months. Pretty creepy but what stood out most to me was how authentic all of the characters felt, right down to their kid-logic inspired monster trap.
  4. The Hateful Eight
I thoroughly enjoyed this well acted movie. Lots of great twists and turns. I wish I could have seen it in 70mm to see what all the fuss was about.
  5. Predestination
What a tremendously entertaining movie. The time travel plot still has me scratching my head trying to make it all fit together. Highly recommended.
  6. The Martian
A superb love letter to science and the art of working out difficult problems. I really enjoyed it. Hopefully this movie will inspire a whole new generation of engineers.
  7. Bone Tomahawk
I’d love to know the reasoning behind dumping this movie straight to VOD. It makes no sense. The script and cast are both top-notch. I could listen to these characters tell stories for hours. It does take a pretty gruesome turn 2/3 of the way in but it seems more shocking because you really like these characters. I really loved this movie, highly recommended.
  8. Electric Boogaloo: The Wild, Untold Story of Cannon Films
A fun trip down memory lane of all the awesome action and exploitation movies I grew up with in the 1980s. The only problem is now I need to add about 20 of Cannon’s movies to my Netflix queue for immediate re-watching.
  9. John Wick
I really liked this movie. The rules of this world were so interesting and fun I’d really love to see a sequel.
  10. Turbo Kid
Totally rad throwback to the apocalyptic wasteland movies of the 1980s. Tons of fun and a really great score.
